Directs concerned deptts to launch ‘Ek Ped Shaheedo Ke Naam- paying respect to martyrs by planting trees’.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday took a high-level meeting with Deputy Commissioners, senior officers of Civil and Police administration to review the arrangements for the Independence Day Celebration.

Present in-person and through virtual mode, this included Sh Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; RR Swain, DGP; Dheeraj Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary Forest; Ecology and Environment Department; Chandraker Bharti Principal Secretary Home Department Administrative Secretaries Divisional Commissioners Deputy Commissioners SSPs HODs and senior officials Security forces Civil and Police Administration.

The Lt Governor directed that all arrangements be made by the district administrations/line departments for smooth conduct of the Independence Day events across the UT.

Stakeholders should work together in order that people can participate actively. All activities and events honouring freedom fighters unsung heroes and martyrs orphans ought to be well planned.

Lt Governor has directed conducting Swachhta Pakhwada from August 01 to August 14, 2024. Stakeholder departments were also advised by him to initiate a fifteen-day campaign called ‘Ek Ped Shaheedo Ke Naam’ at leading public places/memorials where people across J&K UT will plant trees.

“This campaign”, paying respect to martyrs by planting trees,” should become a mass movement throughout J&K UT. Every individual family eminent personalities from all walks of life have got together to make this campaign successful,” said Lt Governor.
